So, yesterday was my last day at Juicy Beast Studio. I really enjoyed my time there, but I had to travel 2 hours every morning just to get there on time, and then 2 hours at night to return home. It was time for me to move on.
Next Monday, I’m returning to full-time freelancing! I’m also going to be working on projects for MADSOFT Games, LLC.
Those projects include Project: Velyria, Aikonia, the MADSOFT website, and a few secret projects I can’t discuss yet :)
When I started MADSOFT, it used to be a flash game development company, but as the years passed, I’ve learned that the flash game industry is a tough and risky one. The revenue is minor and you have to fight with the other developers to get decent amounts from sponsors and portals. You’re overworked and underpaid. I’ve also learned this while working at Juicy Beast. They do amazing flash games, but they really struggle to get decent revenue from sponsors.
This is why I’ve decided to rebrand MADSOFT. We’re still doing game development, but we’re not dealing with flash anymore. We make browser-based games and MMOs, as well as websites and web applications.
What I intend to do now is basically work full-time on Project: Velyria, and do some client work on the side to support myself.
You can read more about Project: Velyria on its development blog :)
Wish me luck!
